A single office.
An unlimited vision.
Golden Wave Cargo was founded in Rotterdam in 2004 by Marcus van der Berg and Priya Nair — two logistics veterans who believed the industry could do better. Starting with a team of six, a small fleet of forwarding relationships, and an unshakeable commitment to transparency, they set out to build a freight company that put the client first.
In its first year, GWC handled 840 FCL shipments across the Europe-Asia corridor. By year three, we had opened our first satellite office in Singapore. By year five, we had become one of the fastest-growing mid-market forwarders in Northern Europe.
From regional player
to global network.
The 2010s were a decade of ambitious expansion. We opened hubs in Dubai, Lagos, Shanghai, and Miami — building a truly global network of owned offices, rather than relying on agent relationships. Each office was built around local expertise and powered by our proprietary tracking platform, GWC Connect.
In 2015, we launched our Project Cargo division after completing our first heavy-lift contract — moving 12 offshore wind turbine nacelles from Cuxhaven to the Taiwan Strait. The division now accounts for 28% of group revenue.
Leading with intelligence.
Today, Golden Wave Cargo is a 1,240-person organisation with 18 owned offices across 6 continents, handling over 50,000 shipments annually. We’ve invested heavily in our proprietary GWC Connect platform, giving every client real-time visibility from booking to delivery — down to the pallet level.
We’re not just moving cargo. We’re building the infrastructure of global trade — combining deep human expertise with technology that makes complexity manageable. Our Net Promoter Score sits at 74, the highest in our segment. And we’re just getting started.
